AlternativeTraveling.com is a cross media platform providing various services for the 21st century traveler, like videos, agendas, articles and recommendations -about alternative, budget and sustainable ways of traveling provided by locals from all around the world for travelers. Additionally the platform will broadcast an ongoing series about traveling via online hospitality networks.
AlternativeTraveling.com tells the story of a global subculture that is changing the way we travel and the way people are connecting with people all over the world. It is a story about creating greater understanding and interest in both our unique differences and our shared humanity. It is a story of adventures and friendships created via online travel networks that tie us all together with an increasingly positive impact on all levels of society.
AlternativeTraveling.com is a series of vignettes of encounters all over the world made via online hospitality networks, hitchhikers communities and nomads bases.
The project will be executed in several stages. Each stage will focus on a different continent and finally is aimed at building a substantial online database of videos on alternative ways of traveling, mapping the different countries and cities in the world.
The First phase will contain 13 episodes of 13 cities in Europe. After Europe we will move on to other continents using the same format.
Take outs will appear on AlternativeTraveling.com and other video share sites. AlternativeTraveling.com will show each city through the eyes of an alternative traveler. Showing the other point of view: transforming spectator tourists into participating travelers. Being hosted by locals and filming off track places that a regular tourist does not find.
